Star Tortoise

STAR TORTOISE

Isn't it adorable? I was never a fan of reptiles all my life, but I just couldn't resist this particular tortoise. Look at the design on the shell, isn't it nice? We bought two star tortoises yesterday on the 10th April 2009. We've been looking for it for quite sometime now actually, and the last time we asked for its availability, we were told that it's illegal to import such animals. But lucky enough, we saw these tortoises in the fish shop and bought it straight away.

The first thing I did was to give it a bath and to my amazement, the water turned out greenish after brushing the shell. Of course it looked shinier afterthat. Keeping this tortoise would take some effort too, such as making sure the temperature is right and the palce musn't be too damp. You'll even need to buy heaters (one for bottom & one on top) And it ain't cheap. The feet of the tortoise is like very scaly... but the face is just adorable.

When we decided to start keeping tortoise was due to the long life span of the tortoise, mainly because, we want a pet that grow with our child, this is just our thinking, that it would be cute or rather educational for our future child. As for Romeo, our crocker spaniel, he's like a child to us too, sadly he's too dependent on me n hubby that he would not be friendly to other people or any pets, so we might need to keep him somewhere when the baby is here. How sad isn't it? I know I'll miss him so so much when he's no longer staying with us, he's a smart dog who thinks that he is human himself and not a dog. This is he....
