2009

The Year 2009 has almost come to an end, within just 36 hours, and welcoming the year 2010. It's been a while since the last post, well year 2009 has been a tremendous year for me and my hubby, as well as our families.

In the begining of 2009, Daryl and I are newly weds, enjoying the life of newly weds couple, being able to travel here and there without having anything to hold us back.

In late February of 2009, I found out I was pregnant and we are all so happy to that this little child is in my tummy. This picture below shows me carrying lil Tyler at just 2 weeks old =)

So, we started buying bits n bits of baby stuff, without even knowing his or her gender yet, therefore we play safe by buying only nuetral colors, such as white, yellow, orange and green. It's a joy when we start collecting baby stuff and by the end of nine months we have a room full of baby's stuff. As days passed by, my tummy gets bigger and bigger as well. And this is me at 6 months pregnant.

I gave birth to lil Tyler on the 21st October 2009 at 6.58 am, weighing at 3.19 kg. When I first saw him, I thanked God for giving me such a perfect lil boy, he's so perfect that I could not ask for more.

He is now 2 months old, and it's getting easier to handle each day as I learn to understand what he wants each cry. He is the first grand son to both our families and he is very much loved by everyone. How can anyone resist a face like this?

OR this?

Anyway, it's time for me to stop now, I need to attend to my baby now =) Byeee

THE DAY THEY CREATE ' DARMAN'
after a long 9 yrs of project, at last Project Darman is successfully created on 8th Oct 2008. the project leader is headed by mr daryl while his assistant is ms mandy. after 9 yrs of experimenting and analysing, both of them finally decided to conclude up their research data and presented their findings in front of 900++ participants at kuchng civic center. oh ya, their project is... framework to marry a gal who u dated for 9 yrs.
i had to report earlier to the project manager's house at 0700. he was alone in the hse n just recovered frm his high fever the night b4, maybe due to excitement? that's how scientific ppl think, we will never understand them. the 1st think he took was paracetamol for his breakfast. wat is my task on that day?? as driver and candid cameraman. places that their pro cameramen can't take, i will try to invade their privacy n take the pics hahahahaha.
the 1st destination that we headed to is mandy's hse. there's where the hero will be ragged and he has to sacrifice lots of his $$$$ in order to kneel down to his heroine??? wtf!!! next time, just through one CS grenade inside n u c the gal will run towards u cause u r carrying a mask! hahahahaha. easy say than done, it's tradition.. once in lifetime mah, so better play along. kiang tu hor, mai keh kiang.

This is the ride

Let's Go!
HAHAHAHA!!... i m well prepared!!
Still crying???... i got one umbrella here....

the newly wed (wet???)
after cheated the the heroine into the car, then we drove off to the new couple's hse to 'comply' with the preset timing according to Tun Tan Sri Professor Dr fengshui...

History (victory??) will be made here tonite!

1st meal as mr n mrs ong will b on this table i guess.
then frm the couple's hse we headed for the male's side tea ceremony. another tradition kinda mambojumbo. the hero's parents will hide in their secret tunnel where the heroine will have to find them in the hse. searching up n low just to serve them tea, and again... just through one cs grenade..same trick, diff time, diff ppl but same result.

where r they hiding????

Drink go, angpow come..

always angpow, i wanna give something with a lifetime value
after the tea ceremony n showing of who's the alpha male now..it's time to go n face the Almighty. we headed to St Jo's church. these 2 got married by an angmor's reverend who mumbled throught the mic inside a stuffy n hot church. the church is big but the air ventilation is poor. most of the fans were not turned on. that's the church way of saving goverment's money maybe or nowadays ppl dun pay their tye as much as b4?? nevertheless, it was a smooth ceremony where the hero made lots of funny face during the ceremony! hahhahhahah i think i can see smoke coming out frm his head already.... if another few more mins to extend i think he will show his through form!!! hahahahahaha

All set to go!

Let's get blessing frm the Lord

Left,right,left,right.... the music playing..

After this..... its all mine!! hahahah

I Do, U Do? who do 1st?

flower throwing time!
left the church n headed to lunch at BDC. very lavish meal. got babi, duck, mountain goat, wild boar, vege, sharkfin soup, mee etc.. i lost count! and the hero's father already unleashed his skill during the lunch! going frm table to table.

still not yet have breakfast ah!!

This dish came just nice for the couple and most ppl also! hahaha
the sky had done us a good deal. it only rained when we r in place under shelters. thank God. after the lunch , we headed to the heroine's hse wheere another tea ceremony will be taken place. traditional must do again. why don't do together at one time? save time, money n place hahahahaha and again, nvm... it's once in a lifetime.

thirsty???

Damn!! angpow not enought for those younger generations ah!!
after the teaceremony, we all headed back to darman's lair. the heroine then had to touch up her appearance for another big event later in the evening.

Faster do ah!!! i m hungry again

We r ready for the dinner
we arrived at the dinner place at around 1830. the lion dance started to get excited when darman arrived! i think they danced around for more than 1 hr outside the hall. it was a packed hall! every1 was enjoying themselves inside! free flow of booz all the time. u go in with a full stomach n u come out with a fully stuffed tummy!!. all ppl were entertained by musical performance all night long (i got culture shocked listening to the songs... way down memory lane where not even my memory can remember). everthing run smoothly and the dinner ended at around 2230.

Storm the yard

Spreaaaddd!
Cold dish... the 1st dish...

Official drink for that night

Can't hardly move! so many tables... n all of them r full!!

FLower also wanna drink beer...

The walk in

Darman World Trade Center

A toast to all!

Slash........!

Arghhh.. the tower still stand...
after that, there's a phase 2 where no pics were taken (or at least by me) hahahahahahah. had to withold my inner demon during the whole phase 2 n remember my promise to my wife, don't drink and drive. all the elders quickly rushed back to count their wedding offering for the day... i roughly know how much that couple get......

One of the average angpow on that day... don't ask for red packet... ask for the blue one next time! hahaahaJust a short note to wish my good friends, Daryl Ong & Mandy Lam, officially Mr & Mrs Ong on 8 October 2008. Wish I was there! CONGRATULATIONS & GOD BLESS!!!!~~~~ (this is frm cindy and she updated the blog for u guys earlier, i took out her post n put in here,ok rite dear?)

Star Tortoise

STAR TORTOISE

Isn't it adorable? I was never a fan of reptiles all my life, but I just couldn't resist this particular tortoise. Look at the design on the shell, isn't it nice? We bought two star tortoises yesterday on the 10th April 2009. We've been looking for it for quite sometime now actually, and the last time we asked for its availability, we were told that it's illegal to import such animals. But lucky enough, we saw these tortoises in the fish shop and bought it straight away.

The first thing I did was to give it a bath and to my amazement, the water turned out greenish after brushing the shell. Of course it looked shinier afterthat. Keeping this tortoise would take some effort too, such as making sure the temperature is right and the palce musn't be too damp. You'll even need to buy heaters (one for bottom & one on top) And it ain't cheap. The feet of the tortoise is like very scaly... but the face is just adorable.

When we decided to start keeping tortoise was due to the long life span of the tortoise, mainly because, we want a pet that grow with our child, this is just our thinking, that it would be cute or rather educational for our future child. As for Romeo, our crocker spaniel, he's like a child to us too, sadly he's too dependent on me n hubby that he would not be friendly to other people or any pets, so we might need to keep him somewhere when the baby is here. How sad isn't it? I know I'll miss him so so much when he's no longer staying with us, he's a smart dog who thinks that he is human himself and not a dog. This is he....

Would you like to sleep like a baby without taking drugs? Americans spend upwards of 3 billion dollars a year on sleep medications, but to avoid the side effects, there are a number of natural remedies you can try first. Read on to learn some of the ways to get a good quality night's sleep.1. Relaxing Rituals to Rest Easy In Chinese Medicine, nighttime is yin time—or, simply, when the body takes care of itself instead of your desires. Proper sleep is required for your body to repair itself and regenerate. To reach deep, restful sleep, your spirit and heart must be calm. Excessive worry, anxiety, and depression can all disturb the spirit and activate the mind—making it near impossible to fall asleep and stay asleep. Rituals to sooth your spirit and induce a sleep response before bed include soaking your feet in Epson salts for 15 minutes, writing all of your thoughts in a journal to get them out of your head, and practicing relaxation before bed, like the Stress Release meditation below.2. When Food Disturbs SleepWhen you eat late, you wake up tired. Your body will be busy digesting your dinner while you are trying to sleep, so you won't feel rested in the morning. Do not eat anything for at least three hours before bedtime. Also, cut back on eating bacon, cheese, chocolate, ham, potatoes, tomatoes, and sausage, especially before bed. These foods contain tyramine, which inhibits neurochemicals like norepinephrine and can cause insomnia. And, of course if you have sleep problems, caffeine should be cut out.Eat for sleep! Try eating more grains at dinner; carbohydrates tend to make people sleepy. Another snooze snack is a warm cup of milk; because milk is rich in the amino acid tryptophan, it can sometimes aid in deep sleep. Mix in natural vanilla flavoring for a soothing snack. Or if you prefer, eat 1 cup of natural yogurt an hour before bedtime.3. A Peaceful Place for SleepYour sleeping environment makes a huge difference to the quality of your sleep. Do everything you can to create a quiet and cozy atmosphere. Ideally, your bedroom should be located in the quietest area of your home. Keep the décor minimal. Lighting should be dim and any music that is played should be soothing. Research has found that lavender, vanilla, and green apple are among the best scents to help lower anxiety and induce sleep, making these smells a good choice for a scented candle or heated essential oil. Try to limit your pets to outside of the bedroom because their movements will keep with your body from fully relaxing into deep R. E. M. sleep. As much as possible, your bedroom should be only for sleep.4. Exercise Enables SleepPeople with regular exercise routines often sleep better and have fewer incidents of insomnia than those don't get regular physical activity. Exercise promotes sleep and improves sleep quality by altering brain chemistry. Exercising moderately for 20 to 30 minutes three times a day, combined with meditation or tai chi in the evening, will not only help you fall and stay asleep, but will also increase the amount of time you spend in R.E.M. sleep. In fact, for some people, exercise alone is enough to overcome sleep problems. Exercise in the morning or afternoon, but do not exercise for at least two hours before bed.5. Herbs to Sleep Tight A calming tea before bedtime can ensure a good night's sleep. Drink valerian or passionflower (or passiflora) tea before bedtime every night for one month. Simply steep 1 to 2 tablespoons of the dried herbs in one cup of hot water and drink just before bed. Or look for one with the traditional Chinese herbs zizyphus or jujube seed, bamboo shavings, and oyster shell, which soothe the mind and spirit. You might also try Calm-Fort/Sleep formula with useful herbs like lily bulbs, polygala and turmeric that help manage stress and calm the spirit while relieving restlessness and insomnia.6. A Sleep-Friendly MeditationI had one patient with insomnia who also felt anxious and even a little depressed. In addition to acupuncture and herbal therapies, I decided to teach her a stress release meditation that she could do before bedtime to help with her anxiety. I am happy to report that she is now sleeping like a baby.Try this Stress Release meditation, which works for the majority of my patients who have sleeping problems: Sit comfortably or lie down on your back. Slow your respiration to deep, abdominal breathing. Utter the word "calm" in your mind with every exhalation. Focus on relaxing each area of your body in sequence, from the top of your head to your toes. Starting with the top of your head, inhale and then exhale while visualizing your scalp muscles relaxing. Say "calm" in your mind. Repeat this with each body part as you move down through all body parts, front, back, and sides, in succession: your face, throat, chest, arms, stomach, abdomen, thighs, knees, legs, ankles, until finally you reach your feet. When you've relaxed your feet, visualize all the tension in your body leaving through your toes as dark smoke. Practice this for at least 15 minutes before bedtime. It will have you sleeping in no time. If you do better with meditative visualizations that are narrated, try my Stress Release CD.I hope you find the ways to resting easy and waking up refreshed!
